The all-new and improved Weatherby MBC20N308NR4B, a successor to the trailblazing Backcountry series, adds novel features to the classic steel Weatherby Mark V action. Its distinctive feature is the incredibly light carbon fiber Peak 44 Blacktooth stock which weighs under 20 ounces in its lightest versions. For improved recoil management, it incorporates a 3DHEX recoil pad. This ingenious system contains a network of interlocking voids hidden within the pad that gradually compress during recoil, thereby extending the recoil impulse duration and significantly reducing the harsh kick of magnum chamberings.

Maintaining its characteristically lightweight theme, the rifle is outfitted with a fluted barrel featuring Weatherby's Accubrake ST. Further weight reduction and enhanced function are achieved through more accentuated spiral fluting on the bolt body. The bolting process becomes noticeably smoother by reducing the bearing surface within the action. The rifle also sports a newly-threaded bolt handle, appointed with an extended, skeletonized knob for ease, all made from lightweight aluminum.
