PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Smith & Wesson Model 59 HG4476-G: What A Find!!!! - The Smith & Wesson Model 59 jumped onto the scene in 1971 and gave birth to Smith & Wesson's "Wonder Nine" period. It went on to be extremely popular in Law Enforcement use and was ultimately adopted by numerous departments across the country. The Model 59 is essentially a double stack copy of the model 39 which proceeded it. The Model 59 was originally designed for the US Navy SEALS "hushpuppy" program. Although not adopted by the Navy, the Model 59 went on to prove itself over the years in the hands of law enforcement and civilians alike. By 1974, Las Vegas Metro was carrying the Model 59 pistols and their popularity quickly spread to other departments. Some departments of the era reportedly compromised by issuing the Model 59 while buying a smaller stock of Model 39s for use by detectives and those with hands too small to wrap around the larger grip of the double-stack. These pistols are at minimum NRA " Good " Condition with many being coded as VG ( Very Good ) and will make excellent everyday carry/shooters. Base price references the G to VG Condition Blued pistols as that is what we have the highest quantity on, with other custom finish and condition options available as listed. Note: Although all of the pistols qualify as being at least NRA Surplus Good in terms of condition, they will have cosmetic differences with some being nicer than others. For those wishing to ensure the best condition available, we do offer a Hand Select option on this item.

These Smith and Wesson model 59 pistols are amazing and have built a reputation for being incredibly rugged. The S&W Model 59 was very popular with law enforcement agencies during its release because it offered shooters oversized controls and was incredibly lightweight for a full-sized handgun. The Model 59 boasts a generous capacity of 14+1 in the easy-to-find 9mm cartridge. This model 59 features a blued steel finish that covers the alloy frame and a 3914 carbon steel slide. The slide release on this pistol is very large and gives shooters a large surface area, and makes reloads lightning fast. The model also features a slide-mounted safety. These are police turn-in pistols, so we are selling them in the exact condition we received them, so expect to see some slight holster wear. You may also see some slight variances in grips, sights, or whatever modifications the carrying officer made to the pistol. However, the pistols we have seen all meet NRA surplus Good Condition. We are confident you will love these S&W model 59 pistols!
