These M1916 Spanish Mausers were originally produced by the Oviedo factory in Spain with an original chambering of 7mm Mauser. A large # of them ( these included ) were re-chambered by Oviedo to the more plentiful 7.62 Nato round ( they are actually marked .308 Winchester ) to make them more popular for the U.S. market. These are the.308 models. These are traditional styled 5 round Bolt Action rifles. The M1916 rifle was introduced in 1916. It was a shortened version of the M1893 rifle with a straight stock chambered in 7mm Mauser which was a common round in use by the Spanish military.
About this particular lot of rifles. These rifles were all originally in the returns pile at Samco that had building up for one reason or another inside their building over the course of several decades. When I say return pile I'm talking about tier racks full of rifles that had come back or been unsell-able upon import for any variety of reasons. Some had cracked or broken stocks, many were missing handguards, some didn't have bolts in them when I saw them but there were buckets and boxes of bolts sitting under the tier racks, missing sights, missing floorplates or magazine bodies, broken stocks, missing stocks, etc.
Anyway, when the assetts were sold off many of these return guns and parts were outsourced to a firearms company that basically specializes in taking 2 incomplete rifles and turning them into one functioning gun. They were tasked with being sure that these rifles were made functional and safety tested, using the parts available to them, before bringing them to the market place. Of course we committed to the rifles once they were completed and even with the issues that we have adderessed here we think they are a great value.
Expect all of these rifles to be missing upper hand guards. Expect all to have cracked or broken stocks or even really trash stocks that are basically just a piece of wood hanging off the barreled action. Expect all to need new stocks. Frankly we would simply sale them as barreled actions but because of the ways the laws are written the rifle may not retain it's C & R status if stocks are removed. Rifles are warrantied for function for 30 day's so that you can verify that it shoots as expected but otherwise they are sold as is.
Any warranty issues for function within the first 30 days you would contact us and we would refer your directly to the warranty insurer. We do not warranty for condition and in that regard these are all as is.
