Glock UA175S203: One of the most recognized handguns on planet earth is the Glock 17. A classic box silhouette with its full-length slide and grip is considered the standard Glock that all other Glocks draw their design from. Steadfast and reliable this handgun has found itself to be the choice sidearm of many different police departments, militaries, and discerning citizens. If you're only going to have one gun or just getting another gun, you can't go wrong with a Glock 17. The Gen 5 came with many upgrades over previous generations and brought back some first-gen standard features. The most notable being they got rid of the finger grooves on the grip bringing it back to the first and second-gen feel while still having interchangeable backstraps, so they have a fit for everyone. They fit the Gen 5 with an oversized mag release button that can be switched to either side of the frame. The trigger has been redesigned to remove the creep that plagued previous generations, and it functions quite nicely. Glock finally realized that some people are wrong-handed and decided that an ambidextrous slide release would be best to put on this G17. Lefties, congratulations, this is finally your Glock. Glock also states that they modified the rifling and crown on their 4.49" barrel to improve accuracy. Someone with previous generation Glocks will have to test that claim. The frame under the barrel kept its accessory rail, so lights that you might have had on previous Glocks will still fit on this gen as well. With 17 rounds on tap and loads of aftermarket extended magazines, you will always have the capacity you need. Finally, after years of consumer requests, Glock listened, and the slide on the Gen 5 Glocks has front slide serrations so operators can "press check" their sidearms to more quickly determine if there is a round in the chamber. If you're ready to see what Glock says is perfection, take the plunge and take home one of these Glock 17 Gen 5's. You won't regret it.
