6.5 Grendel Howa

Howa is a Japanese manufacturer with a history dating back to 1907, originally established as Toyoda's Loom Works before transitioning to firearms production in 1932. The company became known for producing military rifles such as the Arisaka Type 99 during World War II and later developed the Type 64 and Type 89 rifles for the Japan Self-Defense Forces. In 1959, Howa entered the sporting arms market and began manufacturing hunting rifles, including the Model 300 carbine, marking the first mass-produced Japanese hunting rifle. Today, Howa is recognized for its precision bolt-action rifles, notably the M1500 series, which features cold hammer-forged barrels, dual locking lugs, and a reliable extractor and ejector system. The M1500 is widely respected for its accuracy and durability, and is available in various calibers such as the .223 Rem. Howa also produces shotguns, including the versatile 20 GA model, maintaining a reputation for robust construction and reliability. For a broader selection, see Howa rifles and Howa shotguns.
